What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use this website. also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for the purpose of identifying and blocking hacking attempts on the website.

We use a plugin called WP Smush. Smush sends images to the WPMU DEV servers to optimize them for web use. This includes the transfer of EXIF data. The EXIF data will either be stripped or returned as it is. It is not stored on the WPMU DEV servers.

Smush uses the Stackpath Content Delivery Network (CDN). Stackpath may store web log information of site visitors, including IPs, UA, referrer, Location and ISP info of site visitors for 7 days. Files and images served by the CDN may be stored and served from countries other than your own. Stackpath’s privacy policy can be found here.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. Tween Speech Therapy will use the information you provide on the email subscription form to be in touch with you and to provide updates and marketing about speech therapy ideas and tools.

You can change your mind at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email you receive from me, or by contacting me. I will treat your information with respect. By subscribing to the email list, you agree that I may email you and process your information in accordance with these terms.

We use “MailChimp” as our marketing automation platform. By subscribing to the email list, you acknowledge that the information you provide will be transferred to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.

Any information communicated by email is sent through servers over the Internet and could be read by other people. Confidentiality of private information cannot be guaranteed on email. Please do not send confidential information to or any of its employees via email. Also be aware that government organizations, such as schools, have their own disclosure policies concerning email and that if you use your organization’s email address to subscribe to email publications, you are also subject to their privacy policies and terms of use. 

Aggregated Statistics may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website. For instance, may monitor the most popular pages on the site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. may display this information publicly or provide it to others.

Web Beacons

Web beacons are used on email publications, sign up forms, and may be used on this website. Web beacons let me know who opened the emails and who clicked the links. This lets me improve specific features in my emails. Web beacons allow and service providers affiliated with email publications to collect information about when you open the email, your IP address, your browser or email client type, and other similar details.

Information and Third-Parties

(a) Blog. I have a public blog on my website. Any information you include in a comment on the blog might be seen, collected, and used by anyone. If your personal information appears on my blog and you want it removed, contact me here. If I am unable to remove your information for some reason, I will tell you why.

(b) Social media platforms and widgets. My website may include social media features, such as the Facebook Like button. These features may collect information about your IP address and which page you are visiting on, and they may set a cookie to make sure the feature functions properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on my website. I may also decide to maintain presences on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Any information, communications, or materials you submit to Amanda Dugan or Tween Speech Therapy via a social media platform is done at your own risk without any expectation of privacy. I cannot control the actions of other users of these platforms or the actions of the platforms themselves. How long we retain your data

Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months. Email list subscribers’ information is retained until a request for deletion is received. Those wishing to unsubscribe can do so by following the link within the emails they receive.  They should no longer receive emails. Those wishing to have their information completely deleted from the email list can do so by contacting me.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
